Yellow Roadway Corp., Overland Park, Kan., froze its pension plan for new employees, according to the company's 2003 annual report. Yellow Roadway's $614.6 million pension plan has a $300 million shortfall. The company, formed when Yellow Transportation recently bought Roadway Express, also increased the employer match to its 401(k) retirement plan to 3% of pay, with half of that in company stock. New employees can participate in the 401(k) plan. Further details were not available.
