Walter Knorr will become comptroller of Cook County, Ill. on May 1. He replaces John Chambers, who is retiring as comptroller and president of the County Employees' and Officers' Annuity and Benefit Fund of Cook County, Chicago. As comptroller, Mr. Knorr will be a board trustee He was chief financial officer and comptroller for the city of Chicago from 1989 to September 2002 and was most recently managing director in the Chicago office of Citigroup Global Markets.
At its Wednesday meeting, the pension fund board named John Rita, an elected trustee, as president, replacing Mr. Chambers. John E. Fitzgerald remains executive director of Cook County's $6 billion defined benefit plan.
