Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, Columbus, committed $10 million to Kirtland Capital Partners IV, a middle-market fund; $50 million to First Reserve Fund X, an oil-and-gas fund; and $45 million to Essex Woodlands Health Ventures VI, according to a news release from the system. The $58.7 billion system had $322.2 million invested in private equity at the end of 2003, according to its website. The system's June 2003 private equity policy cites a total allocation to private equity of 4%.
