Gary D. Black was hired as president and chief investment officer of Janus Capital Group Inc., Denver, and will begin work around the end of April. The CIO position is new, although many of those responsibilities had been handled by Helen Young Hayes, the managing director of investments who retired last year. Mr. Black's CIO duties will be broader, covering key subsidiaries such as Enhanced Investment Technologies LLC, or INTECH, and Perkins, Wolf, McDonnell and Co. LLC. At Goldman Sachs Asset Management, New York, where Mr. Black was CIO of global equities, officials haven't decided whether to replace him.
