The Ohio Retirement Study Council plans to issue a new RFP later this month for an auditor to perform top-to-bottom reviews of the $48.5 billion Ohio State Teachers Retirement System and the $8.1 billion Ohio Police and Fire Pension Board, both in Columbus, said Aristotle Hutras, council director. The council, which oversees the state's five pension funds, had searched for an auditor last year, but Mr. Hutras reissued the RFP "to clarify the scope — what we need to look at on the management side and the investment side — and combine both projects, the police and fire and state teachers." Firms that had responded to the original RFP are free to rebid, he said.
