CalPERS supports efforts by John Thain, NYSE chief executive, to use electronic trading at the Big Board, said Brad Pacheco, spokesman for the $155 billion system. "We think this is a good move. We hope they move forward with it," he said.
In December, the California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento, sued the NYSE and seven specialist trading firms, charging they defrauded investors through trading manipulations. That suit has not been withdrawn.
