Waukegan (Ill.) Police & Fire Pension System is conducting asset allocation studies of its two pension plans, each with $30 million in assets. Newly hired investment consultant Marquette Associates is assisting; the studies should be completed in the second quarter, said Cynthia Tekampe, deputy treasurer. Marquette replaced Becker, Burke, which rebid, Ms. Tekampe said. Trustees "wanted something different," she said.
The firefighters plan has 81% of assets in bonds and 19% in cash; the police plan has 51% in bonds and 49% in cash.
