Sarasota (Fla.) Police Officers' and Firefighters' pension plans withdrew their combined $10 million investment in the Putnam International Equity mutual fund in light of market-timing accusations against the firm, said Benita Saldutti, pension plans administrator. The $107 million police plan had $5.5 million in the Putnam fund, Ms. Saldutti said; the $80 million firefighters' plan had $4.5 million. Officials at both plans looked at a shortlist of replacement mutual funds in the asset class, she said, but decided instead to increase their existing commitment to the American Funds Euro Pacific Growth fund, raising that to a combined $20 million. Merrill Lynch assisted. Laura McNamara, Putnam spokeswoman, did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
