Thomas A. Bowman will retire as president and chief executive officer of the board of governors of the Association of Investment Management and Research, Charlottesville, Va., effective December 2004. "It is important that the search for my successor among our members be an open, thorough and fair process, and I felt that it was only fair that I give the board ample time to work with me on providing as seamless a transition as possible," he said in a statement. Mr. Bowman noted that AIMR's bylaws require the president and CEO to hold the CFA charter, so his successor will have to come from among the 55,000 members of AIMR who hold the charter. Mr. Bowman, who has worked at AIMR since January 1986, served in his current positions since 1994.
