Minyoung Sohn was promoted to portfolio manager of the $6 billion Growth and Income Fund at Janus Capital Management, Denver. Mr. Sohn had been the assistant portfolio manager. Mr. Sohn also will end his role as assistant portfolio manager of the $5.3 billion Janus Mercury Fund; that position won't be filled, said spokesman Blair Johnson. David Corkins, who previously was portfolio manager of both funds, now will focus solely on the Mercury Fund.
Gibson Smith, portfolio manager of Janus' short-term bond products and assistant portfolio manager of Janus' Flexible Income funds, was named portfolio manager of Janus High-Yield Fund and other high-yield portfolios. Mr. Smith replaces Michael Buchanan, who will leave Janus this month to return to New York. Mr. Buchanan joined Janus about six months ago from BlackRock Inc., New York. Mr. Smith will continue to run the Janus short-term bond portfolios, but will drop his responsibilities on the Janus' Flexible Income funds, where he will not be replaced, Mr. Johnson said.
