The $65 billion State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Madison, is searching for an executive recruiter to assist in the search for an executive director. Patricia Lipton will retire as executive director, effective Jan. 2, after 21 years with the board. She has been executive director since 1989. "(W)ith the appointment of six new trustees to the board, this becomes an opportune time for me to step aside," she said in her resignation letter to the board. "This will allow the new board to move forward with its own priorities." She has offered to consult to SWIB until a new executive director is hired, although she mentioned in her letter "family matters in England may lead to me spending some time there." She is a native of England.
The board expects to select the recruiting firm Dec. 19, said Vicki Hearing, public information officer. She said the board will conduct national searches for both the recruiting firm and executive director. She said details of the searches haven't been completed.
