Michael Sears has been dismissed as the chief financial officer of Boeing Co., Chicago, for unethical conduct in Boeing's hiring of Darleen Druyun, a former U.S. government official, according to a Boeing press release. James Bell, the firm's senior vice president of finance and corporate controller, was named acting chief financial officer. Mr. Sears was dismissed for violating company policies by communicating with Ms. Druyun about future employment when she had not disqualified herself from acting in her official government capacity on matters involving Boeing. Ms. Druyun, who had been vice president and general deputy manager of Missile Defense Systems, was also dismissed. Calls to Boeing were not returned by press time.
