The Bank of New York said it has been asked to provide information to various "governmental and self-regulatory agencies" in connection with investigations relating to the mutual fund industry, according to its 10-Q filing with the SEC. Bank of New York is the second-largest custodian of mutual funds in terms of assets, with more than $1 trillion, said Jeep Bryant, BNY spokesman. The agencies were seeking investment information about other firms from BNY; Mr. Bryant would not say if information on Bank of New York's own mutual funds was also requested.
