Douglas Appell and Gregory Crawford have joined Pensions & Investments' editorial staff.
Mr. Appell is a reporter in the Boston office, covering money managers and mutual funds. Mr. Crawford is a reporter in the New York office, covering trading.
Mr. Appell was equities editor for Dow Jones & Co. in Tokyo. He also worked for Dow Jones' Asian Wall Street Journal, where he wrote a weekly "Heard on the Street" column from Kuala Lumpur. He has a bachelor's degree in economics from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., and a master's in international relations from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. Mr. Appell also spent a year at Tokyo University, where he studied Japanese politics on a Fulbright scholarship. He is fluent in Japanese.

Mr. Crawford operated a free-lance writing business. Previously, he spent nine years at Reuters News Agency in New York, Chicago and Hong Kong. He began as a correspondent and was promoted to deputy editor-in-charge and corporate news desk correspondent. Before that, he was a reporter for McGraw-Hill Inc. in New York. Mr. Crawford has a bachelor's in English literature from Drew University, Madison, N.J.
