Fairfax County Educational Employees' Supplementary Retirement System, Springfield, Va., is interviewing manager candidates today to run $70 million in active small-cap value equities. Officials at the $1.37 billion system hope to make a selection at their Oct. 23 or Nov. 20 board meetings. Funding will come from reducing a $116 million active domestic core small-cap equity portfolio run by Lazard, according to Alan Belstock, finance director.
After the hiring, officials will review the plan's $158 million international equity portfolio; they hope to finish the review and possibly hire new managers by the end of the year, said Mr. Belstock. Two managers, which Mr. Belstock declined to identify, currently manage the portfolio. Mercer Investment Consulting is assisting.
