Florida State University Foundation Inc., Tallahassee, hired BNY Asset to manage $40 million in an S&P 500 index fund and Marvin & Palmer to run $37 million in active domestic large-cap growth equities, said Tammy J. Lavine, investment coordinator. The index fund is a new allocation funded by rebalancing the $300 million endowment's equity portfolios. The large-cap portfolio was funded by terminating MacKay-Shields, which ran the money in a similar portfolio; MacKay-Shields was terminated for "various reasons," she said.
