Mark A. Schmid will be named CIO of Boeing Co., Chicago, according to sources. Mr. Schmid will oversee Boeing's $28 billion defined benefit fund and $18 billion defined contribution fund. He is director-asset management at DaimlerChrysler Corp., Auburn Hills, Mich., where he oversees the $14.7 billion defined benefit fund and $4.2 billion defined contribution fund.
Mr. Schmid will replace Susan E. Manske, who last April was named vice president and CIO of the $3.7 billion John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Chicago.
Officials at Boeing and DaimlerChrysler didn't return calls seeking comment.
