Capital Guardian Trust Co., Los Angeles, has the highest "investment quality" of any money manager, a new survey by Casey, Quirk & Acito LLC, Darien, Conn., shows.
Tied for second were Brandes Investment Partners LP, San Diego, and Wellington Management Co., Boston. Barclays Global Investors, San Francisco, and Pacific Investment Management Co., Newport Beach, Calif., were tied for third.
More than 250 money managers, plan sponsors, consultants and financial advisers responded to the survey, which was e-mailed to subscribers of InvestorForce's database. They nominated more than 125 firms.
CQA defined investment quality as a money manager's "ability to consistently meet stated objectives." The study's authors, CQA principals Jeb B. Doggett and Kevin P. Quirk, said: "We believe that investment quality will be a defining theme of the investment management industry over the next decade because investors will demand it."
