John C. Adams was named director of investments at the $6 billion United Mine Workers of America Health and Retirement Funds, Washington. Mr. Adams, previously senior investment adviser at the funds, had been acting director following the departure of Enos T. Throop to the National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust in August.
The UMWA Health and Retirement Funds is close to hiring a senior investment adviser to replace Mr. Adams and an investment adviser for fixed income to replace Toby M. Thompson, who left in January. Mr. Adams said he hopes to make a decision by the end of the month.
