Diane Garnick was named chief U.S. portfolio strategist at Dresdner Bank AG, New York. Ms. Garnick, former global investment strategist at State Street Global Advisors, Boston, said she was given the green light to bring her own team on board. So far, she has hired 11 people and plans to hire up to 10 more in the next two months. She plucked three members of her management team from Merrill Lynch & Co., where Ms. Garnick worked before joining SSgA.
Hired away from Merrill are Silvio Lotufo, former head of equity derivatives strategy, who will run European research; Charlie Behette, former director of portfolio agency trading, who will run U.S. agency trading; and John Andretta, former director of arbitrage trading, who will be head of arbitrage trading. Ms. Garnick also hired Thomas M. Jardine to head U.S. trading; he was managing director of global equity derivatives at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., New York.
