Sean Harrigan was elected president of the board of administration of the California Public Employees' Retirement System by an 8-4 vote, defeating San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr. Mr. Harrigan, who had been vice chairman of the investment committee for the $134 billion, Sacramento-based fund, is international vice president for the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union. He succeeds William Crist, who retired after 11 years as president.
Rob Feckner was elected vice president of the board, also by a vote of 8-4, defeating Robert L. Carlson, current vice president and former president. Mr. Feckner is a glazing specialist for the Napa Valley Unified School District and chairs CalPERS' health benefits committee.
Elections for chairman of the investment committee will take place next month.
