Jacqueline M. Johnson was named director of the bureau of investments for the Michigan Department of Treasury, Lansing. In her new position, she will serve as chief executive officer and chief investment officer of the $40.7 billion State of Michigan Retirement Systems. She also will direct the investment of Michigan's General Fund, the State Lottery, Michigan Education Trust and other state funds.
She replaced Alan Van Noord, who became CIO of the Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System, Harrisburg, in June. Ms. Johnson had been administrator of stock analysis. Information on a possible replacement for her wasn't available.
Jay B. Rising also was appointed state treasurer, replacing Douglas B. Roberts. Mr. Rising, who was an attorney with Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone PLC, Lansing, was chief deputy state treasurer between 1983 and 1991.
