Daniel Szente left McMorgan & Co., where he was CIO. Prior to joining McMorgan in November 2001, Mr. Szente was CIO of the $133 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento, for 16 months. Creighton Abrams, a McMorgan spokesman, said Mr. Szente will be returning to his hometown of Washington, but his employment plans are not known. Mr. Szente could not be reached for comment by press time.
Mary M. Bersot, co-CIO of large-cap growth strategies at Dresdner RCM Global Investors, replaced Mr. Szente as CIO at McMorgan. Ms. Bersot was a senior vice president and senior equity portfolio manager at McMorgan for 10 years, prior to a four-year stint at Dresdner RCM. Joanne Howard, a portfolio manager on the large-cap growth team, was promoted to Ms. Bersot's position, said Dawn Vroegop, director of marketing. Ms. Howard works with the existing large-cap growth co-CIO, Seth Reicher.
