Olivia S. Mitchell was named director of the Boettner Center for Pensions and Retirement Research at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. She now is International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans professor.
The center was established to support research, teaching, and outreach on global aging, successful retirement and public and private pensions. Funding comes from an endowment, now totaling $5 million, from the Joseph and Ruth Boettner estate. Mr. Boettner was an insurance executive.
Robert Emmons was named inspector general at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., Washington. Mr. Emmons, who was acting assistant inspector general for audits at the U.S. Postal Service, replaces Wayne Poll, who retired.
