Eight dissident AIMR members are seeking to nominate themselves to the organizations board of governors and campaign as a coalition over discontent with AIMRs governance, policies and mission.
There has never been a contested election for the board of the Association for Investment Management and Research, confirmed Richard Wyler, director-public communications.
James I. Hymas, principal with Hymas Investment Management and one of the candidates, said AIMRs proposed research objectivity standards "represents a bit of grandstanding, saying it goes beyond AIMRs scope. "We think the nomination process is flawed and doesnt reflect good governance, he said. "Wed like to see election campaigns with winners and losers.
The election will be at AIMRs next annual meeting, in May and held in Phoenix. Signatures from about 3,000 members, due 60 days before the meeting, are required for nomination.
