U.S. venture capital funds returned -10.3% for the quarter ended June 30, compared with -7.7% for the first quarter, according to Cambridge Associates U.S. Venture Capital index. The second-quarter results beat the S&P 500, down 13.4%, and the Nasdaq composite, down 20.7%. For the year ended June 30, the Venture Capital index posted -35.8%, compared with -18% for the S&P 500 and -32.3% for the Nasdaq composite.
The Cambridge U.S Private Equity index posted -3.2% for the quarter ended June 30, down from the first quarters -0.6%. For the year ended June 30, the index posted a return of -11.7%.
