Thomas & Betts Corp., Memphis, Tenn., hired Northern Trust as a manager of managers for a portion of its $200 million in pension assets, said Tricia Bergeron, vice president of investor and corporate relations. She would not specify the size of the mandate. The plan did not use a consultant, said Jennifer K. Tretheway, director-manager of managers investment services for Northern Trust.
The plans roster of managers was: Alliance Capital; Barclays Global Investors; Boston Partners Asset Management; Capital Research & Management; J.P. Morgan Fleming; Morgan Stanley; FTI Institutional; and Wellington, Ms. Bergeron said. The plan retained several of the firms, but she would not provide details.
