Ohio State Teachers Retirement System, Columbus, hired Barclays Global Investors, Goldman Sachs, Jacobs Levy and Intech to run a total of $1 billion in S&P 500 index portfolios, said Herb Dyer, executive director. The $45 billion plan wants to improve the performance of its index portfolio, which was managed internally, said Mr. Dyer. Exact allocations have not been determined, he said. The search was conducted internally.
In addition, consultant Frank Russell recommended that the system reduce its target allocation to emerging markets equity to 5% of total assets from 2%, and move the approximately $1.35 million to alternatives, raising that allocation to 5%, Mr. Dyer said. He said the systems board will decide on the matter next year.
