Mellon Financial and Shinsei Bank formed a joint venture in Japan to provide investment management services to Japanese public and corporate pension plans, subject to regulatory approval, said Ron Gruendl, Mellon spokesman. Each firm will own 50% of the new company, which is scheduled to be launched next spring with an initial staff of 10 employees. It will provide investment management services from Mellons 16 investment management subsidiaries and affiliates.
