Stocks rose today, spurred by investors seeking bargains and banking firms that would benefit from the announced $30 billion IMF bailout for Brazil. The Dow Jones industrial average closed up 255.38, or 3.02%, at 8,711.53; the S&P 500 rose 28.7, or 3.27%, closing at 905.47; and the Nasdaq composite was up 35.42, or 2.77%, to close at 1,316.32.
