Robert E. Diamond Jr. will assume the role of chairman of Barclays Global Investors from Matthew W. Barrett, chairman of the parent company, Barclays PLC. Mr. Diamond, who is based in London, will remain CEO of Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Group.
A press release from Barclays noted that BGI and Barclays Capital will not be merged under Mr. Diamond's leadership. Blake Grossman and Andrew Skirton, co-CEOs of BGI, will continue to report to Naguib Kheraj, deputy chairman of BGI, who reports directly to Mr. Diamond.
"With Patti Dunn stepping down, this was a natural transition time," said Thomas Taggart, BGI spokesman. Ms. Dunn retired as global CEO in June.
