COSTA MESA, Calif. - Crain Communications Inc., publisher of Pensions & Investments, has acquired Workforce magazine from ACC Communications Inc. in Costa Mesa.
Workforce is a monthly human resources magazine. It also publishes a weekly e-mail newsletter and a twice-monthly newsletter, and sponsors the industry-respected Workforce Optimas Awards.
Workforce Publisher and ACC President Margaret Magnus, whose family has owned the magazine since the late 1950s, will remain as publisher. She will report to William T. Bisson Jr., a Crain vice president and publisher of P&I and its sister publication, InvestmentNews.
In making the announcement, Keith Crain, chairman, and Rance Crain, president, said: "The publication is a good fit for (Crain), particularly when considering both the family-owned philosophies and the potential readership dually reached in the pensions, investment and employee benefits area of the insurance markets with Crain publications, Pensions & Investments and Business Insurance."
Originally published as The Journal of Personnel Research, and later as Personnel Journal, this year marks Workforce's 80th anniversary.
Headquartered in Detroit, Crain publishes more than 30 newspapers and magazines.
