Washington State Investment Board, Olympia, will issue an RFP for a consultant for its $8 billion in worker insurance funds, said Gary Bruebaker, chief investment officer. Incumbent Conning Asset Managements contract expires Dec. 31.
Separately, the WSIB decided to add a passive small-cap option for its $1.5 billion 457 plan. Barclays Global Investors will manage the portfolio, tracking the Russell 2000 index, which will go live Oct. 1.
The board also approved one-year extensions to the contracts of six active developed-market managers for the states $42 billion defined benefit plan: Artisan, which manages $352 million; Delaware, $722 million; Dresdner RCM, $464 million; Nicholas-Applegate, $236 million; Putnam, $581 million; and Pyrford, $280 million.
