Edward Siedle, president of Benchmark Financial Services Inc., sued the National Association of Securities Dealers over the publication of The Siedle Directory of Securities Dealers. The suit, filed in Hillsborough County Circuit Court, Tampa, asks for "a declaratory judgment that (Siedle) is entitled to publish his book without interference from NASD and injunctive relief so that NASD will not interfere with his obtaining public information from the NASD, according to a statement by Mr. Siedle.
NASD has threatened to sue over the publication of the directory, listing disciplinary histories of broker/dealer firms. Publisher CCH declined to publish the book because of the dispute with NASD, a CCH official said. Mr. Siedle has decided to publish the book himself.
Michael Shokouhi, NASD spokesman, did not comment on the suit.
