TORONTO - The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, with C$14 billion (US$8.8 billion) in assets, committed C$140 million to the Candover 2001 Fund and C$120 million to Coller International Partners IV. The Candover fund focuses on private-equity buyout opportunities in the United Kingdom and continental Europe. The Coller fund will acquire U.S. and European limited partnership interests in secondary markets. Both commitments extend over five years.
The CPPIB, the equities division of the Canada Pension Plan, plans to invest up to 10% of its assets in private equity. To date, thep lan has made C$2.6 billion in commitments to 14 private equity firms, to be drawn down over the next four to six years.
