Global Security Risk Monitor identified more than a dozen companies in the S&P 500 index as potentially at risk because of corporate exposure to terrorism, weapons proliferation and other security concerns.
The monitor a new product developed by the Investor Responsibility Research Center and Conflict Securities Advisory Group identifies publicly held corporations with operations in or links to Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria and "assesses reputational and/or financial risk based on the type and scope of involvement of the companies profiled. The U.S. government identified those six countries as state sponsors of terrorism that possess, or are actively pursuing acquisition of, weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile delivery systems.
