San Francisco City & County Employees Retirement System will issue an RFP in the next two weeks for a real estate consultant. As expected, the $10.8 billion pension fund board approved the proposal and hired Cooper Consultants to assist in the selection process. Current real estate consultant Townsend Group will be invited to bid on the four-year contract. Proposals will be due around mid-April, with a selection slated for the boards June 4 meeting.
Also, the board yesterday voted to support Hewlett-Packard Co.s proposed merger with Compaq Computer Corp. The pension plan, which votes its shares through Institutional Shareholder Services, holds 497,164 shares of H-P and 399,382 shares of Compaq, or roughly 0.02% of each companys outstanding shares. ISS yesterday announced it favors the merger.
