Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement System, Harrisburg, committed up to $40 million to J.W. Childs Equity Partners III and up to $26 million to Alpha Private Equity Fund IV, according to Sean Sanderson, a spokesman for the $24 billion fund.
The system also plans to search later this year for an investment consultant. Incumbent Cambridge Associates contract expires in January 2003, Mr. Sanderson said. The search is required by state policy, he said. Cambridge may rebid.
