The net return on U.S. venture capital funds for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was -17.4%, below the -6.6% net return of the previous quarter, according to Cambridge Associates U.S. Venture Capital index. The S&P 500 returned -14.7% for the quarter and the Nasdaq composite, -30.65%. For the one-year period ended Sept. 30, the Venture Capital index returned -47.3%, below the S&P 500 return of -26.6% for the same period but above the Nasdaqs -59.2%.
Cambridges U.S. Private Equity index quarter posted a net return of -8.1% for the third quarter, down from 2.3% for the previous quarter. The index returned -17.7% for the year ended Sept. 30.
