John Carmody was named managed accounts sales director at Brinson Advisors, and Mike Murphy was named mutual funds sales director, both new positions. They will work with external and internal wholesalers, focusing on providing education and sales support for managed account and mutual fund capabilities.
Mr. Carmody was national sales manager for EnvestnetPMC, a web-based start-up company providing open-architecture separate-account investment services and technology to the independent investment advisory community. Mr. Murphy was a sales strategist/wholesaler trainer for Brinsons wholesale team.
The moves are part of Brinson Advisors expansion of its wholesale distribution team.
Brinson also hired four regional sales managers to support its third-party distribution effort. Guy Ferrara will be responsible for the Midwest; Tom Franco, the Southeast; Mark Najarian, the Northeast; and Jim Hickey, the Southwest.
Mr. Ferrara was a wholesaler and managed the New York sales desk at Phoenix Investment Partners, and Mr. Franco was a wholesaler at Phoenix Investment. Mr. Najarian was a national account manager at Funds Distributor, where he supervised the distribution of Brinson mutual funds through U.S. intermediary channels. Mr. Hickey was a regional sales director with the UBS PaineWebber wholesale team.
