Coral Gables (Fla.) Retirement System hired Nicholas-Applegate to run $25 million in active domestic large-cap core equities and AIM to manage $25 million in active domestic large-cap value equities, said Adolfo Sansores, administrative manager. The $200 million plan funded the hires by terminating an active domestic large-cap value equities portfolio run by INVESCO. Mr. Sansores said INVESCO was terminated because plan officials felt there were "better opportunities elsewhere. Officials from INVESCO could not be reached for comment by press time. The plans current asset allocation is 55% equity and 45% fixed income.
