Michigan Municipal Employees Retirement System, Lansing, hired Wasatch Advisors to manage $65 million in active domestic small-cap growth equities, said Jeb Burns, director of investments. Funding will come from terminating a Russell 2000 index fund managed by Barclays Global Investors. Trustees for the $3.7 billion defined benefit plan wanted to move from a passive to an active approach for small-cap growth domestic equities, he said.
