South Carolina Retirement System, Columbia, picked State Street Global Advisors to run an initial $75.5 million in a Russell 2000 index strategy. The $21.3 billion system intends to park funds there until it can allocate them to smaller managers as the need arises, but no searches are planned at this time. SSgA also runs a $2 billion S&P 500 index fund for the plan, said Michael Sponhour, system spokesman.
