College Retirement Equities Fund, a unit of TIAA-CREF, will have two participant resolutions up for a vote at the funds annual meeting Nov. 13. One resolution, introduced by a group that includes C. Everett Koop, former U.S. surgeon general, calls for divestment of all tobacco investments. The other proposal supports the right to own firearms and calls on CREF not to make further investments in entities that publicly advocate legislation to control or bar firearms. CREF trustees oppose both resolutions. CREFs Social Choice Account, which screens investments, is not part of the tobacco resolution.
