Only about 4% of plan sponsors surveyed by Mercer Manager Advisory Services conduct online money manager searches. The 2001 institutional market trends survey of 720 plan sponsors showed sponsors used the Internet mostly for account information (64% of those surveyed) and performance information and attribution data (55%). More than one-third of plan sponsors (37%) said their largest unmet need from money managers is the ability to run customized reports and gather comparative universe performance information via the web.
