New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, committed $300 million each to the Warburg Pincus Private Equity Fund VIII and the Mohawk River Fund III, according to a news release. The system also committed $75 million to Blum Capital Partners Fund II, $50 million to the Oaktree Principal Opportunities Fund II and $25 million to the Fairview Capital III private equity fund.
Officials at the $112 billion system could not be reached for details by press time. However, in July 2000, Paula Chester, director of the private equity program, said the fund expected to invest between $1.2 billion and $1.5 billion per year in private equity through 2005.
