Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System, Oklahoma City, hired Metropolitan West to run $485 million in core-plus fixed income, said Kirk Stebbins, chief investment officer. Other finalists were PIMCO and Western Asset Management. Funding comes from previous manager Back Bay Advisors, whose five-year contract with the $5 billion system expired. Back Bay was allowed to rebid, but MetWest was a better fit with the OPERS requirements, Mr. Stebbins said.
