American Airlines hired three active domestic small-cap to midcap equity managers for its $3.3 billion Pilots Variable Annuity Plan, said William F. Quinn, president of AMR Investment Services Inc., Fort Worth, Texas.
Strong Capital Management and Calamos Asset Management each will manage $75 million in a growth style, and Brandywine Asset Management will manage $10 million in value. Funding comes from reducing active domestic large-cap value equities.
The changes are part of an overall restructuring of the plan, Mr. Quinn said. He added that next on the agenda likely will be an enhanced index allocation, but details arent yet available.
