Stocks fell hard today, with an array of disappointing corporate earnings and U.S. jobs data tipping off investors to a troubled economic future in the near term. High-tech shares declined virtually across the board, with the Nasdaq composite index down 75.95, or 3.65%, closing at 2,004.16. The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 227.18, or 2.17%, at 10,252.68; while the S&P 500 ended 28.65, or 2.35%, lower at 1,190.59. All numbers are preliminary.
