Morley Fund Management plans to offer three new socially responsible U.K. and global equity pooled funds for institutional investors, Morley officials announced today. The three funds, each available early this month, will invest in companies that "make a direct link between sustainable development and long-term returns, according to a news release. The idea is that companies that are prepared for environmental and social issues will be well positioned to increase their market share and profits. Company officials predict that demand for socially responsible investments among U.K. pension funds will grow because Parliament last year passed legislation forcing them to disclose whether they take ethical and social factors into account when making investment decisions.
Morley has £104 billion ($147 billion) in assets under management; the pooled pension unit has £2.7 billion under management.
